The idea of a smart city which is proliferated with interconnectivity and automation in all aspects of its community has been around for more than a decade. Few cities across the globe have truly achieved this vision with the majority of them still in the process of strategizing and implementing the core elements of a smart city. Covid-19, however, has had an existential influence on all industries and technology sectors, be it oil and gas, supply chain, healthcare, with its impact on smart cities still up for debate. In this presentation, Lux will analyse the effect Covid-19 has had on the four key themes of smart cities- mobility, energy, digitization, and governance and offer a perspective on whether the pandemic will accelerate or derail the development of smart cities in the near future.
